Release Trauma with Somatic Practice

Join somatic trauma psychotherapist Manuela Mischke-Reeds in her free webinar to break free of trauma; Transcend Inherited Trauma: Somatic Practices for Nervous System Resilience & Intergenerational Trauma Integration’

What if the struggles you face today aren’t just isolated challenges, but the lingering echoes of unresolved trauma — both your own and that of your ancestors’ — showing up in your body and holding you back from the life you truly desire?

Your body carries not only your memories, but also the emotional imprints of inherited trauma, which can manifest as chronic stress, emotional distress, nervous system overload, and even physical illness…

… leaving you feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from yourself and those around you.

Many families experience trauma. While the past may live within you, it does not have to define you.

Join somatic trauma psychotherapist Manuela Mischke-Reeds in this powerful online event on Thursday, May 1…’Transcend Inherited Trauma: Somatic Practices for Nervous System Resilience & Intergenerational Trauma Integration’

… where you’ll explore how trauma — especially intergenerational trauma — manifests in your body.

Manuela will show you how to bring somatic awareness to those inherited patterns — through movement, breath, contemplation, and ritual — and begin rewiring your neural pathways into resilience.

These exercises will help you dramatically shift your internal experience by regulating your nervous system, building physical and emotional resilience, and deepening your connection with your body.

You’ll learn how engaging in post-traumatic growth also involves connecting to your ancestral roots, revealing the strength and courage of those who came before you, and understanding their legacy as a gift that connects you to your deeper purpose.

Manuela will guide you through her “Body Mapping and Ancestral Listening” practice, offering you a direct experience of ancestral trauma integration — a profound journey of listening to the voices of your ancestors to identify the stories locked in your body.

You’ll tune into the hidden patterns shaping your somatic and emotional landscape, and begin to release what longs to be freed.

Release Trauma with Somatic Practice

A Footnote on intergenerational  trauma and somatic therapy:

Intergenerational trauma refers to the idea that the effects of traumatic experiences can be passed down from one generation to the next. You might be grappling with anxiety, relationship difficulties, or physical tension without a clear personal cause, potentially stemming from unresolved trauma experienced by your parents or ancestors.

Emerging scientific research suggests these effects might even be transmitted through non-genomic pathways, such as epigenetic mechanisms, which influence how our genes function without changing the DNA sequence itself (Yehuda & Lehrner, 2018).

This inherited trauma often doesn’t just live in our minds or stories; it can manifest physically, becoming stored within the body as chronic tension, unexplained pain, hypervigilance, or a persistent sense of unease. Traditional talk therapies focus on thoughts and narratives, but somatic practices offer a complementary, body-centered approach crucial for addressing these physical imprints.

Somatic therapy works on the principle that the body holds onto traumatic experiences. It uses techniques like body awareness, grounding exercises, gentle movement, and breathwork to help individuals safely connect with and process the physical sensations associated with this inherited stress. By carefully tuning into the body’s signals and allowing stored tension or survival responses (like fight, flight, or freeze) to complete their cycle in a safe environment, somatic practices facilitate release.

This process helps regulate the nervous system, alleviate physical symptoms, and foster a sense of safety and presence in one’s own body.

Engaging in somatic practices can be a powerful way to address the deep-seated, often unconscious patterns of intergenerational trauma, offering a path towards healing the legacies held within your body and potentially preventing their transmission to future generations.
